The Draft of the Independent Code, which is a proposed code of governance for the Nonprofit sector in South Africa, was issued for comment by the public on the 8th March 2012.
This is an opportunity for any Nonprofit organisation to comment on the draft of the proposed Independent Code, with the deadline being the 30th April 2012 to close off any submission of comments. The draft defines what a Code of Governance is; what the objective is of the Code of Governance; explains why the Nonprofit sector needs its own Code of Governance. It also includes 8 fundamental values; 6 leadership principles; and 5 fiscal and legal principles that the public has been invited to comment on.
